Dr Elena Martellozzo is a Criminologist and specialises in sex offenders’ use of the internet and online child safety. She holds a full time lectureship at Middlesex University and offers regular expert advice and training to the London Metropolitan Police and Italian Police Force (Polizia di Stato). Elena has worked extensively with children, serious offenders and practitioners. Her work includes the analysis of online grooming, distribution of indecent images and police practice in this area. She has also assessed police safety campaigns about use of the web aimed at children and has worked with children on their perception of the internet and looked at their safety when using it. The findings of her research on this subject inform police and other agencies strategy and practice. She is the author of “Online Child Sexual Abuse: Grooming, Policing and Child Protection in a Multi-Media World” (2012, Routledge).
